Quote 3:

Elie gets angry by what the Jews have to suffer with and blames  God.
"But now, I no longer pleaded for anything. I was no longer able to lament. On the contrary, I felt very strong. I was the accuser, God the accused."
Elie believes God is no longer their to protect him. He thought, why would God cause me trouble.

Recent Event:
The scientific theory does go against religion. Some people believe the world was created by a rock collision in space which created Earth. However, every religion has its theory of how the world was created. So it is really hard to know which religion is true.
Secondly, there are many times people who believe in a religion, blame God for not solving the problem for him. However, God does not solve the problem for you. The Almighty only open doors to guide you to the right path.

Quote 6

The moment has arrived, the Jewish prisoners gain freedom from the Germans. As the United States army attacks the SS officers.
"A six o' clock that afternoon, the first American tank stood at the gate of Bunchwald."(Pg 115)

 Recent Event:
The United States has helped many people gain independence like the Cubans and the Philippines. The United States helped Cuba gain independence in the Spanish-American War. The United States bought the Philippines  and made some improvements. Soon, the Philippines gained their independence from the United States.

Quote 5

This quote is an example of gaining freedom and leaving your last breath to what you love.Juliek is a boy who loved playing the violin. He knew Elie from the concentration camp. At his last moments Juliek fulfilled his favorite hobby.

"All I could hear was the violin and it was as if Juliek's soul had become his bow. He was playing his life." (Pg 95)

Recent Event:
Mahatma Gandhi was a great nonviolent freedom fighter. He did not stop no matter how many times he went to jail. He did not use the same method as the Britain used to gain India. Gandhi did stop till he gained his rights and used his nonviolence beliefs. Many people learned from him, like Martin Luther King, Jr., Cesar Chavez and many more. Juliek also followed what he loved no matter how much someone might hurt him. Many of these Jews did want to fight back but they they calmly stayed and took everything they were given quietly. They were pacifist themselves.

Quote 4

Elie talks about how his father dies and he was not able to save his father.
"No prayers were said over his tomb. No candle lit in his memory. His last word had been my name. He has called out to me and I had not answered." (Pg 112)

Recent event:
Just recently, reporters found out that the United States government has disrespected the 9/11 dead bodies. On February 28, 2011, researchers found Delaware dumping ashes of 9/11 remaining body parts in a landfill. The strong 9/11 fighters are respected by being dumped in a landfill. This is a very disgusting and uncivil way of giving peace to 9/11 fighters and victims. Just as the United States has been ill-mannered, Elie was not able to help his father and give his soul peace.

Quote 2

This event takes place when Elie goes through the first day of camp, and expresses how he feels.
"Never Shall I Forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times sealed.
Never shall I forget that smoke.
Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed into smoke under a silent sky.
Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith forever.
Never shall I forget the nocturnal silence that deprived me for all eternity of the desire to live.
Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul and turned my dream to ashes.
Never shall I forget those things, even were I condemned to live  as long as God Himself.
Never."

Recent event:
This event now reminds us about Joseph Kony. The terrible things Joseph Kony has done to poor African village children. He made the children killers and taught them how to use a gun. He used girls for sexual harassment. It had shocked the whole world. Anytime, The Invisible Children INC. has a fundraiser people come running to donate.

Quote 1

Mrs. Schachter foreshadows what will happen in the future. Many think she has gone crazy because her family had been split by the German officers. This quote from the book took place on the train to their first camp. As they got off the train, they saw flames, that smelled like flesh.
"Look! Look at this fire! This terrible fire! Have mercy on me!",screams Mrs. Schachter.

"In front of us, those flames. In the air, the smell of burning flesh."

  Recent event:
Another racial conflict that occurred at the same time was  the Japanese American being sent to camps. The United States  government thought that the Japanese Americans might be spies for Japan. Jews and Japanese were both being sent to camps depending on the race, even though they lived in the country since their birth. Secondly, the Japanese and the Jews felt that something bad might happen to them. However, the Japanese were not tortured as much as the Jews were.
